History of Skippers’ Plan
A tradition of Dedication to Boaters
More than six decades ago in 1943, W. J. “Bill” Robertson opened a general insurance agency in Toronto. In the early 50s Bill developed a love for boating and the Skippers’ Plan concept was born.
In 1971 Bill’s son Bruce Robertson joined the insurance agency and it became a three generation family business in 1992 when Bruce’s son Andrew joined the brokerage.
In 2010, Skippers Plan became part of the CG&B Group, one of Canada’s foremost brokerages, meaning that boaters could take advantage of a powerful team with expertise in auto, home and business insurance from a source they know and trust. A new landmark was achieved in 2011 when the Canadian Yachting Association selected Skippers’ Plan as its exclusive provider for insurance services.
The Robertson family, the CG&B Group and Skippers’ Plan remain committed to improving boating and serving the insurance needs of boaters.
